Coal mining
Coal mining might be the dumbest industry in the US today. I saw an episode of the Morgan Spurlock show 30 Days where he works as a coal miner. Get this: when the miners are closing off an old section of a mine, they literally grab the support posts with their arms, and pull the posts down.
What’s the method to keep the mine from collapsing on them? They hope it doesn’t!
I’m not sure if this is standard practice at all mines, but wow!
