Factoids

Human facial hair is roughly as strong as copper wire of the same thickness.

The term “pay through the nose” has several competing etymologies.

This isn’t a factoid, but it is irritating to me. The latest Orwellian subversion of a word - humble. I keep reading about people who have accomplished great things (winning a championship, getting accepted to a good school, accomplishing something!) saying how humbling the experience was. Um, no. These things make you proud, not humble. You may have been humble, and worked hard to achieve, but getting to where you wanted to go is not humbling. Stop it. Thus ends the language enforcement part of this post.

Carbon footprints - driving is, surprise, much worse than anything else you do as a consumer.
